Seven hardcore naxalites, including two of deputy commander rank and carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh each, surrendered before the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at the Mandir Hasaud based headquarters of its 65th battalion. All of them were actively involved in anti-national activities in Gariyaband, Mahasamund, Dhamtari districts and Bastar division. The surrendered deputy commanders included a woman naxalite as well. Talking to media on Wednesday afternoon, IGP (Raipur Range) GP Singh and Commandant of CRPF’s 65th battalion SK Singh said that the intelligence wing of CRPF was constantly working out this surrender for the last one and half month after some of them first sent feelers about their willingness to give up arms and return to the mainstream. The seven naxalites have since been identified as Lakhmu alias Malesh (22) of village Chota Tada Bada was deputy commander of Udanti LOS as was Vaijanti alias Kanti (21) of village Kasai Pharasgaon. The remaining five are dalam members and they are Sukman (35), Massu Ram (25), Bajju (22), Razau Dugga (21) and Santram alias Santu (20), all residents of village Jhakari Barda.
