Three Naxals were arrested when they were allegedly trying to plant land mines here in district on last day of Maoist martyr week being observed from July 28 to August 03.
According to reports, Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap in this regard stated that joint teams of district police force, STF and CRPF COBRA after conducting surveillance while returning to their camp spotted three ultras planting land mines near Rewali culvert. The police team in a planned way arrested the red rebels red handed, then and there only.
A five kg land mine, 30 meter wire, couple of detonators and other materials were also seized from the spot, he said.
The naxals arrested has been identified as Joga Mandawi (30), Rajaram Sori (19) and Pandu Mandawi (21), all residents of Burgum's Pujaripara area. The SP ahead mentioned that arrested Maoists are being interrogated.
At the same time, in another incident during the operation, a minor exchange of fire took place between security forces and naxals in Burgum and Choperapara forests. The rebels seeing situation going out of control fled away from scene taking advantage of trees. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident, the SP added.
