Swine flu hits Chhattisgarh too

Swine flu has affected Chhattisgarh too. A patient admitted at a private hospital in Raipur has tested positive for swine flue. Two more patients-one from Raipur and another from Abhanpur, suspected to have swine flue are undergoing treatment in another private hospital in the city. Meanwhile health department has issued alert over swine flu.
Retired Colonel and Anupam Nagar Raipur resident who is admitted at NH-MMI Hospital Raipur tested positive for N-1 H-1. According to information available his condition is stable but serious and he has been put on ventilator.


The after confirmation of N1H1 through pathological test of his sample test, another sample of his blood has been collected. The second sample is now being sent to NCDC lab in Delhi.


It has been learnt that he was suffering from cold and cough for the last two to three months. He did not even move out of state during this period. After having complaint in breathing he was subjected to check up subsequently he was given dose of Tamiflu.


Health Director R Prasanna too visited the hospital to inquire about his health. He told health officers to conduct test of those coming in contact of the patient. Meanwhile alert has been issued to all District Medical and Health Officers and Medical College Hospital Superintendents. In Ramakrishna Care Hospital also two suspected swine flu patients are undergoing treatment. Dr Girish Agrawal said that both the patients are under treatment at the hospital ICU.


On the other hand Ambedkar Hospital has made a local purchase of 400 tablets of Tamiflu. The tablets were given to four suspected swine flu patients including two NH-MMI medical staff who were in constant touch with the swine flu patient. According to Hospital PRO Shubhra Singh Thakur, purchase order was placed for 1000 Tamiflu tablets. Wards-44, 45, 46 and 47 in Ambedkar Hospital have been made isolated wards for swine flu.
