11 arrested for brawl in Changorabhata

DD Nagar police on Sunday night and early on Monday arrested a total of 11 brawlers from separate parts of Changorabhata and produced them in the court later in the day from where all of them have been sent to jail.

It should be recalled violence had broken out in Changorabhata near Kushalpur Chowk on Sunday evening following declaration of election result for ward no. 67 wherein Independent candidate Bhupendra Dewangan was ultimately declared loser to BJP candidate Yaadram Sahu after initially being declared a winner. Angry supporters first had blocked traffic on Ring Road no.1 and when police tried to remove them from there, they had resorted to heavy brickbatting after which police too used force and chased away all the protestors.

In this entire process, a number of citizens and about half a dozen policemen were seriously injured. Later an offence was registered under Section 147, 341, 186, 332, 353 IPC in DD Nagar police station against Dilip Mishra, Daddu Dewangan, Vinod Mishra, Bhupendra Dewangan, Raju Bhau and about 150 other unidentified brawlers.

Since registering this case, police has arrested a total of 11 accused by day break on Monday. They have since been identified as Tularam Dewangan (27), Sanjay Sahu (20), Sonu Manikpuri (23), Jitendra Chourasiya (28), Sunil Mahto (28), Shivendra Patle (32), Pankaj Singh (24), Manish Kumar (20), Bhau Patle (50), Anil Yadav (25) and Johit Jyoti (21). All of them were later produced in the court from where they have been sent to jail.

In the meantime, situation in Changorabhata once again turned tense when police teams visited for the second time in the locality on Monday looking for more suspects. Initially the police team had visited the area in the afternoon looking for more suspects and reportedly have rounded up about half a dozen of them, though no official confirmation have been made so far in this regard. And when they again arrived there in the evening locals started gathering around them alleging that are rounding up innocent persons and they also tried to prevent them from moving ahead into the area. With the night drawing up by then and number of locals gathering at the spot increasing by every passing minute, police team thought it wise to move out of the area but despite their departure, locals in large number were still seen in selected areas of Changorabhata thereby clearly reflecting that the situation over there is far from normal even now.
