The Investigation Wing of Income Tax department has started its investigation into disproportionate income of WRD officials. The departmental officers from IT have sought information about the documents seized and other detailed information about the ornaments and cash recovered in the EOW and ACB raid at various establishments of suspended irrigation officers. The IT department is now planning to take impose tax based upon the information given in the IT-returns filed and the huge cash and ornaments recovered in the raid.
The officers from the Income Tax department have started investigations into the 'returns' filed by the Chief Engineer of Irrigation department, Sub-Engineer, Executive Engineer. The Investigation Team of IT has sought point-wise details of cash, property and ornaments recovered from the raids in the residence and houses of all the officers. It is after conducted thorough search of disproportionate income, the department would send its report to the assessment wing and which in turn would fix the tax penalty.
It is notable that in the raid conducted last on Dec 30 at 16 different places, cash amount of around Rs 4.75 cr, 2 kg ornaments and documents of fixed assets were recovered from seven engineers including CE, EE and SE.
