Under attack over botched sterilisation surgeries at government-run medical camps which have so far claimed lives of 13 young women in state, Chief Minister Raman Singh on Thursday announced a judicial probe into the incidents.
"A judicial investigation will be conducted in the incident," CM Singh told reporters here after visiting the women admitted at different hospitals. "Those who will be found guilty for it will not be spared whether its medicines manufacturer, distributor and doctors. Strict action will be taken against them," he told reporters here at CIMS (Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Science) hospital.
As many as 138 women, underwent sterilisation surgeries at camps held in Pendari and Pendra region of Bilaspur district, are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Bilaspur, CM said. "13 women have died," he added. Of the 52 women admitted in Apollo Hospital,2 are in ventilators, 3 on dialysis and 5 in NIV (non invasive ventilation) system while others are normal. Besides, rest of the women admitted in CIMS and district hospital are normal," he added. Over a query on the quality of drugs used in surgeries, CM said the examination of the standard of the medicines used in the sterilisation camp is underway and we can come to conclusion after the arrival of report. Presently the priority is to take care of the affected women and provide them best possible medical facilities.
