Moudhapara police on Thursday night registered a fraud offence against M/s. Micro Finance Ltd. having its head office at Bhubaneshwar in Odisha and the local office is situated in Farishta Complex. Further investigation in this regard is now underway.
According to police, complainant Sunita Yadav (35) of Lodhipara near Station Road is a housewife and is a customer of M/s. Micro Finance Ltd. with which she had deposited Rs 18000 under a plan of six and half years duration wherein she was to get the double of invested money. While she had regularly paid all the premiums for six and half years, she has not been given the maturity amount which has been due since May 31, 2014. It was further informed that the complainant is not the only victim of this fraud and apart from her another 35-40 women of her locality has also been duped in similar fashion.
The complainants also informed police that the company has now changed its name to M/s. Micro Finance Credit Co-operative Society after Reserve Bank of India (RBI) debarred the original company from doing any type of non-banking operation and taking advantage of this change of name is now delaying the maturity payment. Following this complaint, police registered an offence under Section 420, 34 IPC against the company and its officials and conducted a search in the local office on Thursday itself. Later police seized several documents from the local office after which it was sealed until completion of further investigation. Also it has served a notice to the company asking it to furnish the details of all customers from Raipur and the amount of investment collected from them.
