On Friday, a youth was arrested by Crime Branch on charges of circulating fake notes and paying counterfeit notes for purchasing a mobile phone. The accused is identified as Vikas Sahni (20) son of Shambhu Sahni a resident of Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. The accused has been nooked under section 420, 489, 489-B, 489-C of IPC. Inspector KK Wasnik (SHO, Mohan Nagar) informed that they received a complaint from one Vishwajeet Singh, who is a mobile shop owner recently regarding receipt of counterfeit notes. The victim had sold a Micromax Mobile Phone to an unknown youth who made the payment of Rs 10000 through 20 notes of Rs 500. When the shopkeeper visited bank to deposit the amount, he came to know that the notes were fake. He immediately informed Police about the incident.
Taking the matter into serious cognizance, Police started collecting information regarding the suspect on the basis of the physical appearance as narrated by the victim. In this sequel, a suspect was nabbed at Durg Railway Station. During searching, Police recovered Rs 83000 fake currency notes from his possession and also the Mobile Phone which he had purchased from the victim's shop. During interrogation, the accused confessed to have purchased the mobile phone from the victim's shop and that he made the payment through fake notes.
The accused was arrested and produced before the court. ASI Shiv Narayan Singh, SL Gorle, Head Constable Suresh Banafar, Ashok Sahu, Kapil Yadav, Israfil Khan, Shiv Prasad Dubey, Vinod Singh, Santosh Mishra and others played vital role in nabbing the accused.
