Bijapur district is one of 28 districts in Chhattisgarh, and Bijapur City is the Administrative Head Quarter of the district. Earlier it was part of Dantewada district. Bijapur district is located in the southern part of Chhattisgarh state, Dantewada district in the north- east, south and west, and the western half of the state of Andhra Pradesh and the rest is from the state of Maharashtra. Total area of district is about 6562.48 square Kilometers. There are Four Division blocks - Bijapur, Bhairamgarh, Bhopalptnm and are Usur .
बीजापुर जिला छत्तीसगढ़ के 28 जिलों में से एक है, और बीजापुर शहर इस जिले का प्रशासनिक मुख्यालय है। इसके पहले यह दंतेवाड़ा जिले का भाग था। बीजापुर जिला छत्तीसगढ़ राज्य के दक्षिणी भाग में स्थित हैं, इस जिले के उत्तर पूर्व में दंतेवाड़ा जिला है, दक्षिण और कुछ पश्चिमी दिशा के आधे हिस्से पर आंध्र प्रदेश राज्य और शेष पश्चिम भाग महाराष्ट्र राज्य से लगा हुआ है। जिले का कुल क्षेत्रफल लगभग 6562.48 वर्ग. किलोमीटर है। इसके चार ब्लॉक डिविजन हैं - बीजापुर, भैरमगढ, भोपालपटनम और उसूर हैं।
Most of the parts in district is hills, the district's tallest peak is Bailadila or Bail Kubad.

Bijapur is located 90 KM south of Dantewada. Nearest airport is Visakhapatnam where regular flights from all the major towns and cities across the country are available. And nearest railway station is Jagdalpur.
